Come eat brunch with us as a community as we talk about the next phase of launching this new church! We’ll be gathering to hang out, talk strategy and get up-to-date on the happenings of our community as we start a new gear-up towards an October 11th launch!

On May 30th at 11:30am (PDT) several churches from around the Bay Area will be descending on San Francisco to walk through and pray for our new church plant. We know that many of you from around the country will not be able to join us physically in person for this event but still wanted to make it possible for you to walk with us virtually around the city. So, we’ve created a virtual prayer walk through Google Maps. Simply click on this link and follow the buttons on the left and join us to pray for the city, our new church plant and the amazing things that God’s doing!

Saturday morning (3.7.09) rolled around and our very first Launch Community* was upon us. I didn’t really know what to expect, whether those who had RSVP’d or said, “Hey I’ll be there,” would actually show up or if we’d be left standing there at square-one needing to seriously retool our entire approach towards planting this new church. Fortunately, my greatest fears and the worst case scenario didn’t play out before my very eyes!

As we prepared and envisioned what our first Launch Community would look like I said time and again, “If we have 10 people there that’d be great! If we have 15 that’d blow my mind!” Well, neither of those classifications fit. For our very first Launch Community, 17 people showed up to participate in this new thing taking shape in the city! I could hardly believe it, but it left me realizing two things that morning : 1) There is a real need in this city for a new church; 2) God is up to something BIG! and this is just the beginning!

We spent the morning introducing ourselves to each other, eating a fantastic brunch and dreaming together of what this new church could look like to truly make a difference in the city of San Francisco. We talked about how we can impact the community for good—to literally be an integral part of hepling this city succeed—to how we could serve the city and the important aspects of who we truly want to be at our very core. It was a fun morning, an exciting morning, and the anticipation for what’s next was palpable!

Our second launch community felt the same way! At the beginning of the month (April) we had even more people than the first month, new faces and new possibilities! It was tremendously exciting! I can’t wait to see how our Launch Communities continue to grow and evolve into regular worship gatherings in October. There’s a lot to do, but things are coming along better than we could have hoped!

Our next launch community is May 2nd at 10:30a!

*Launch Community is a gathering of people who are interested in joining with us in launching this new church in the city of San Francisco.

This month has been a banner month for us here in San Francisco as our small group has multiplied into three! We’re extremely excited about the momentum that we’re beginning to pick up as we move towards our first launch gathering this coming Saturday, March 7th. Be sure to read about some of the things that we’re up to in our new update which is now live on the site.

There are a lot of things that we’re thankful for, and things that God continues to do to surprise us and bring us along. But most of all, we’re thankful for your support, encouragement and your prayers. You truly are a part of the engine that makes this thing go!

Christmas has come and gone and momentum for this new church plant in San Francisco is building as we make new connections here in the city and bring alongside us new financial partners who are enabling us to make this dream of helping people find their way back to God in the city of San Francisco a reality!  Our new update is now live on the siteand I want to encourage you to read about all the amazing things God is doing and continues to do in our midst.

We’re so thankful that you continue to check in on us, read about our adventures and continually pray for us and support us.  This new church wouldn’t be possible without the help of the church body around the country praying for us and financially enabling us to do this work.
